Shipping with TrueShip logo-trueship.png

TrueShip is a third-party software application that is integrated with CORESense that automatically communicates shipping information through XML.  This application supports shipping via various carriers including UPS, FedEx, USPS, and DHL, regardless of carrier selection and the shipping method specified on the order and shipment in CORESense. Information is required to connect the selected carrier and service to a shipping method in CORESense.

Before shipping with TrueShip (ReadyShipper interface), it is required that it be configured for CORESense.  Additionally, there are setup steps on the Shipping Methods Manager and System Settings. For your TrueShip ReadyShipper shipping integration you will need to complete the following:

TrueShip Automated Data Transmission Process

The following steps cite the automated process for exporting Shipments into TrueShip, printing labels, and importing shipments into CORESense.

Step

Action

1

An export script runs every 15 minutes to export any Shipments that are in Packing status, making the shipment information available in the third-party software for a Keyed Import function.

2

Go to system setting (System Settings > Shipping > TrueShip), and set the TrueShip Export Item Level Details option to “YES” for additional export details.

The Shipment Export process includes order item details allowing TrueShip to produce Pick/Pack documents and automate warehouse printing processes. The following fields have been added.

  • Custom1 - Map to order item product part number for SKU included in the Shipment
  • Product - Map to SKU Label
  • Quantity - Quantity in Shipment
  • Weight - Total Weight of SKU Quantity in Shipment
  • Description - Map to SKU Description
  • Price - Unit price of order item
  • Pick_Location - Map to location that inventory is sourced.

3

Post-back processes in the third-party software send the tracking information back to CORESense in realtime.  A script runs every 15 minutes to apply this information to the shipments in CORESense.  Once imported, the following actions are automatically performed:

  1. The shipment status is updated to Shipped

  2. The associated order status is updated to Partially Shipped if unshipped inventory remains on the order

  3. The associated order status is updated to Shipped if all order inventory has shipped

  4. The ship date and tracking number is saved on the shipment

  5. A shipment confirmation email is sent to the customer

Configure a Shipping Method to Export to TrueShip

In order for shipments to be exported automatically to TrueShip, the shipping method must be flagged accordingly.

Save the change by clicking Update Attributes.

3

This change need only be performed once, during initial configuration.  After the change, all shipments for the shipping method are exported to TrueShip, accordingly.

Configure Shipping Method Mapping for Import from TrueShip

When shipment tracking information is communicated back to CORESense by TrueShip, the carrier (Ship Via) and service (Ship Type) assigned to the each shipment must be linked to a CORESense shipping method, so that the correct method can be updated on the shipment.  This helps to ensure that any tracking information provided to the customer through email is formatted and hyperlinked correctly.

ODBC Setup

You will first need to setup the ODBC connection then do the mapping. Before your connection will work, you need to send CORESense the Public IP address of the computer that will house TrueShip. You can get this by Googling "what's my IP" without the quotes. Once received, the credentials for the ODBC and FTP account are sent to you from CORESense and include:

Click on the ODBC Setup Steps link to open a PDF that contains the setup process.

FTP Tracking Module

After downloading and installing ReadyShipper you will also need to download and install the FTP Export Module (http://www.trueship.com/partners/tracking-ftp/) Once installed you will need to configure the module to export an XML file to the CORESense TrueShip FTP (ftp.coresense.com) with your user name and password (provided by CORESense).

This module needs to be initiated to export any shipments processed in ReadyShipper to the CORESense TrueShip FTP. CORESense reads from that folder every fifteen minutes and updates the shipments accordingly. Automation takes care of the Order Updates and Email Confirmations following the shipment update.
