Warehouse Sub-Locations

This section explains how to create the actual warehouse locations in which inventory is stored. CORESense enables you to create individual locations one at a time, or in batch using location templates. A template must be created first, which provides the hierarchical values in the Type drop-down in the new Sub-location pop-up.

When creating locations, it is recommended you begin by creating the largest locations first, for example, the "Aisle", and then work your way into the smaller locations such as the "Shelf" and "Bin".

Using Templates

If you are using location templates, the smaller locations can be created automatically when creating the larger locations using the child auto-generation option. By using an Aisle template to create warehouse locations, you can create 34 locations for each aisle automatically by selecting the child auto-generation option. For example, by creating 10 aisles, you can create 340 locations in a single click.

Create a Location

Path: Back Office > Products > Warehouse Manager > Sub-locations

Follow the steps below to add a new location to a warehouse.

From the Warehouse Manager header, click Sub-locations link and click on Add New.

In the New Sub-location window, enter the requested attributes.

  1. Type - Select the desired location template, for example, Aisle.
Note: All templates are displayed in hierarchical order.

  2. Quantity - The quantity of locations you with to create. For example, to create 10 aisles, enter "10".

  3. Generate Sub-locations - This determines whether sub-locations are automatically generated from any location templates defined within the current selected template.

Automatic Label Generation enables you to automatically generate location labels for the selected location template and associated quantity.

  1. Enabled - Determines whether location labels are automatically generated. By selecting "Yes", you are required to enter the Start At, Units and Padding attributes, listed below.

  2. Start At - The optional number or letter from which automatic label generation starts. For example, if you are adding five shelves to an aisle, and shelves a - g already exist in the aisle, by entering "h", the resulting shelves will be automatically labeled h - m.

Note: By leaving this blank, either 1, a, or A is used depending on the selected Units, explained below.

  3. Units - The preferred unit naming convention. For example, by selecting "0-9", the first shelf is labeled "1", the second "2", the third "3" and so on. Options include "0-9", "a-z" and "A-Z".

  4. Padding - The number of padding characters that are automatically added to the left of the label upon auto-generation. For example, by selecting "0001", the first shelf is labeled "0001", the second, "0002", the third "0003" and so on. If a letter was selected as the Units, the first shelf is labeled "aaaa", the second "aaab", the third "aaac" and so on.

Click Verify to submit.

The New Sub-location window appears and enables you to modify the location labels.

  1. Locations - A listing of all locations you plan on creating from the selected location template.

  2. Identifies if defaults are available.

  3. Defaults including the Start At, Label, Count and Sample information:

    • Start At - The number or letter from which automatic label generation starts. If desired, modify the starting number or letter.

Note: This defaults to the associated location template Label Generation Units and Label Generation Padding auto-generation attributes.

    • Label - The associated location template label.

    • Count - The quantity of locations to be created.

    • Sample - A sample of the first location label to be generated.

Click Verify to submit or Go Back to change the Location option.

Click on Create These Locations to implement them.

Repeat Steps 1 - 6 until all desired locations are created.

The new locations are now listed under the Sub-locations box.

Once created, you can perform any modifications to locations such as deleting locations, or designating them as unavailable for fulfillment, which makes inventory unavailable to sales channels for reservation and orders for fulfillment. Basically, making the inventory unavailable for sale.

From the Warehouse Manager header, click Sub-locations link.

Click on the icon-checkbox.png  icon to delete a location or the hammer-wrench.png  icon to make edits to its attributes.

Update any of the General Attributes as needed and click Apply.

Print Barcode Labels

Barcodes can be printed from a warehouse sub-location using the Location Label Generation Wizard.

From the Warehouse Manager, select the sub-location and open from Hammer/wrench edit mode.

Click on the Launch Location Label Generation Wizard button.

  1. Verify the Printer source.

  2. Enter the quantity to print.

  3. Initiate printing.

Check the Print Quantity In Stock box to print quantity based on an individual warehouse's current inventory. Choose the warehouse to print that inventory.

NOTE: Using this function greys out the Qty field since the system is using the inventory count as the quantity.
