Central Distribution

Central Distribution allows you to designate a warehouse as the source of fulfillment for other warehouses. A central distribution warehouse receives all purchase order inventory from vendors and then transfers inventory to other warehouses or stores as inventory minimum thresholds are met.

Distribution Center Setup

There are multiple areas within CORESense that help manage how central distribution is setup. Listed below are the functional areas in the system that house the options that need to be set when leveraging central distribution.

Warehouse Manager

Within the Warehouse Manager there are two key options for identifying a warehouse for central distribution or to receive from central distribution.

Only one of the options can be used; a warehouse cannot be a Distribution Center and Fulfilled by a Distribution Center at the same time
Both fields are available as criteria in the Filter By Warehouse search box
Both designations are column labels in the Search Results

Purchase Order Builder

When creating purchase orders in the PO Builder, you can identify the receiving type for the inventory as Central Distribution or Store.

Create Centralized Purchase Order with the receiving type as “Centralized Distribution”
A Component Purchase Order is created for each warehouse for the receiving type of “Store”
For “Centralized Distribution”, upon purchase orders creation, the Component Purchase Orders are grouped by their Distribution Centers, combined and sent to the Distribution Centers
Component Purchase Orders that don't have Distribution Center configured on their warehouses proceed normally
Centralized Purchase Orders hold the ordered quantities for each of the grouped warehouses

Model Stock

When setting up model stock for a product, you can determine if that product is to be fulfilled using Central Distribution per location.
